Workshops
I have given workshops for the community to people interested in how to take a more in-depth approach when interviewing their loved ones. The workshop becomes a collaborative experience in that I encourage attendees to tell their story as well. I think all of us can have roadblocks in work, life, relationships and beyond. It is very liberating when we can all share those obstacles and find solutions in a collective and supportive environment. That is the best way I can describe how people have experienced the “How to Interview Your Loved One: Tips and Tricks.” To better explain in detail what the workshop will be, here are the steps involved:
Meet with Director of Education/Adult Learning to go over goals and logistics for the workshop
Workshop is posted in Library/Community calendar and related newsletter
Arrive on day of workshop with PowerPoint presentation, index cards, sign-in sheet, and handouts
Arrange tables and chairs into a U-shape that promotes conversation and collaboration
Give 45 min PowerPoint presentation/lecture
Open group to introductions to each other -what brought you here?
Breakout into pairs to workshop ideas in presentation
Return to discuss and continue with open conversations about goals, ideas, help with obstacles, etc.
Workshop conclusion and recap
Entirety runs 90 minutes
